Hellfire Club: Emma Frost

Emma Frost

The onset of telepathic abilities of the girl who would eventually become the Hellfire Club’s White Queen, had her parents convinced she was crazy, as they had her institutionalized. Gradually learning to control her abilities, Emma Frost gained her freedom by controlling her guards.

With her newfound abilities, Emma eventually gleened financial information enough to form her company, Frost Enterprises. In the running of Frost Enterprises, Emma used her telepathic skills to gain select information from the minds of some of her competitors, and manipulated others. Her shrewd business dealings soon gained her the position of White Queen of the New York chapter of the Hellfire Club’s InnerCircle, to which she was likely introduced by Harry Leland, whom she met when she was 16.

Despite her own formidable telepathy, the X-Men’s Phoenix left her in a coma for a time after a battle in which the White Queen attempted to recruit the young Kitty Pryde, by hook or by crook, into her own group of novice mutant students, the Hellions.

After recovering from her Phoenix induced coma, the White Queen had numerous other battles with the X-men and their novice students, the New Mutants, before lapsing back into a coma during a Sentinal raid on the Club shortly after the Nimrod saga.

Awakening from this second coma to find her mind telepathically transferred into the body of the X-Men’s Iceman, Emma Frost used the abilities of that body to elude the X-Men long enough for her to discover that her students, the Hellions had all been slaughtered by the cross-time traveling Fritzroy. Rather than ending her life out of depression, Emma Frost accepted Xavier’s offer of a new start as the headmistress of the new group of young mutants, Generation-X at her former Massachussets Academy, now the new Charles Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters, Co-headed by former X-Man, Sean (Banshee) Cassidy.
